Monthly Giveaways - Always start at midnight on the first of the month, and end at 11:59:59 on the very last day of the month.

* ALL TIMES ARE EASTERN. By 23:59:59PM on the first day of the month, we will have randomly chosen the 9 potential entrants.

Randomly! We use the RAND() function of mySQL to pick the potential entrants. We choose 9 entries total:

SELECT * FROM LANSONTRAINS_GIVEAWAYS ORDER BY RAND() LIMIT 9;

And we may do something fun like having a button tied to that query and each time the button is pushed, random records are selected, and the fun part is filming the button getting pushed. We'll see what we come up with!
The records are stored with a hash value for the email address, so we cannot see who is being selected. Totally blind!

Ultimately only 1 entrant can claim the prize for each monthly giveaway.

We choose 9 because of how we have structured the system to allow for possibility of unclaimed prizes, and we need to keep things moving through till the end of the month.

Every 3 days a new "claim period" still start. Each claim period is assigned a entrant that can claim. Each claim period that passes in which that entrant has not claimed, a new period starts that allows an additional entrant to try and claim.

Your odds of winning are directly to the number of entrants. If 100 people enter, odds of winning will be 1:100. If 1000 people enter, odds of winning will be 1:1000.
